Practical Info

Due to safari flight restrictions, we recommend packing light and using a soft bag (typically limited to 15kg). Entumoto offers complimentary laundry service to help you pack efficiently! For daytime, we recommend light, long-sleeve shirts and shorts, especially as the sun is strong. For the cooler evenings, you will need sweaters, long trousers, and a light down jacket. We recommend safari or dark colors as they are best for walking and game viewing; please avoid white clothing as it reflects light and can attract animals' attention. Bring comfortable walking shoes or sturdy trainers for when we are out and about, and sandals for relaxing in camp. Don't forget to pack sunblock, sunglasses, and a hat.

Packing essentials

We are situated at a high altitude (1,500–1,900 m ), enjoys a pleasant tropical savannah climate that avoids extreme heat. Daytime temperatures are comfortably warm year-round, averaging 25-27°C (77-81°F). However, early mornings and evenings are often quite chilly, dropping to 10-14°C (50-57°F), making layers or a light down jacket essential.

The year is divided into two main seasons: the Dry Season (June–October), which is cool, sunny, and popular for the Great Migration, and the Wet Season (November–May, with a brief dry spell in Jan/Feb), which features higher humidity, green lush landscapes, and typically afternoon-only showers.

Which month is the best to travel?

The best months for safaris in the Maasai Mara are generally from July to October, coinciding with the spectacular Great Migration crossing over from Tanzania (high season).

However, wildlife can be observed throughout the year, with each season offering unique experiences. Traveling in the off-season offers a less crowded safari experience in the broader Maasai Mara. Importantly, our private Conservancy ensures you enjoy exclusive safari experiences all year round, regardless of the season.

Climate & seasons

Health & Safety

All-inclusive or full-board option?

We offer two types of trip full board and all-inclusive (recommended). Full board includes your accommodation, three delicious meals a day and those activities happening within the camp - however you will need to provide your car and guide for the safari and you may not get the “true” Entumoto experience. Full board guests can however benefit from our skilled guides, open Land Cruisers, walking safaris and other activities by paying as they go.

An all-inclusive trip (recommended) sees all the benefits of full board as well as all activities such as game drives by our professional guides - whose knowledge of the area cannot be matched - walking safaris, bush meals, sundowners and unlimited access to the bar.

Do I need a visa to enter Kenya?

Kenya has a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for all visitors, effective January 2024. This applies to nearly all international travelers, including children and those from previously visa-exempt countries.

It is highly recommended that you apply for your eTA at least 72 hours (3 working days) prior to travel, and ideally one to two weeks in advance, as processing times can vary. An eTA is generally valid for a single entry and allows for a stay of up to 90 days.

Required Documents: You will generally need a valid passport (with at least six months validity), a passport-style photo or clear selfie, flight itinerary (arrival and departure), and confirmation of your accommodation (which we provide).

How to get here

By air: The most efficient way to travel is by flying from Wilson Airport (Nairobi). The flight takes just 45 minutes with several regular daily connections. Upon landing at Mara Keekorok airstrip, our guides will meet you and the safari begins immediately! The 40-minute drive to camp is an exciting game drive where you can spot zebra, giraffe, elephants, and sometimes even big cats.

By road: The drive is approximately 240 km and takes 3-4 hours on a largely good road. We can book a private transfer for you. This option allows you to see the Kenyan countryside and is the most cost-effective way to reach the camp.

Location

Entumoto Private Safari Camp is part of the Mara Siana conservancy, on the eastern border of the Maasai Mara, between the park gates Oloolaimutia and Sekenani. The camp is in a secluded valley with its own private conservancy, teaming with game.

The nearest entrance to the Maasai Mara is the Sekenani gate which is a 30 minute game drive from the camp through our conservancy.

Entumoto can be found on Google Maps.
